Pastoral Care
At Loretto we pride ourselves on our pastoral care. The HMI view was that "Pastoral care for pupils was very good overall." Our size, our ethos and our determination to treat each person both as an individual and as a member of the community are important factors. Our determination to work in partnership with parents, which was judged by the inspectors as "very good", ensures that pupils feel that they are working alongside parents and staff.

Careful emphasis is placed on developing close relationships with teachers through the personal tutor systems. Every boarding and day pupil at Loretto is assigned a personal tutor whose role it is to guide the academic and social development of the pupils in his or her care. The Headmaster is involved closely in the pastoral life of the School, meeting all pupils every day for assembly and seeing them regularly on an individual basis. He also teaches all pupils in their first year at the School.
There are regular year group meetings at the school when parents are able to attend to discuss their children's progress with staff, and individual appointments to see a member of staff or the Headmaster can readily be made.
