Scholarships

Loretto aims to seek out and nurture the extraordinary in children. Your child's talents will grow and flourish as a result of our unique Loretto education. Loretto offers scholarship and bursary awards to high academic achievers and those with exceptional ability or potential in music, drama, art, sport and golf.

Scholarship awards are competitive and are won on merit. The accolade of being a scholar is given for the honour it bestows and its many educational benefits. It usually includes a financial contribution towards fees. If the financial amount of a scholarship is insufficient to allow a pupil to attend Loretto, parents can apply for a means-tested bursary to supplement the award.

Scholarship awards are available in the following six categories:

ACADEMIC, ART, DRAMA, MUSIC, SPORT and GOLF

In addition to this there are Almond Scholarships which are available for Scottish state school pupils. These are academic awards and can be up to 100% of the cost of fees.

Download our Scholarship brochure and Scholarship Application Form or click on the links on the left hand side of this page in the navigation to view specific scholarships.

Awards can be offered for entry into any form in the Senior School: Second,Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Forms (12 - 18 years), as well as into Year 6 (10 years) and Year 7 (11 years) in the Junior School.

Candidates may apply for more than one award: a child may, for example, receive both a sporting and an academic scholarship or exhibition.

Scholarship exams and general assessment exams are usually on set dates throughout the year. Special arrangements can be made for overseas candidates and other candidates who cannot make a set date. The next Almond scholarship dates are the 1 February and the 26 April. Candidates who are unable to sit the exams at Loretto can also take the exams at their current school.
