Duke of Edinburgh's Award

To inspire, guide and support young people in their self-development and recognise their achievements.

Applying to Loretto offers students a chance to earn the Duke of Edinburgh award. The Duke of Edinburgh award is in recognition of a young person’s successful journey of self-discovery and development, renowned by employers and universities alike for the qualities young people have who've achieved a DofE Award. Its balanced programme develops the whole person - mind, body and soul, in an environment of social interaction and team working. The Scheme takes in almost all aspects of extra-curricular school life; from the sporting field to the music rooms, from the art department to the golfing range. Participants also head out into the local community to fulfill the Service part of the Award.

Loretto School is an official Operating Authority of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Our Award Manager is Susie Ward and the rest of the team consists of John Elder, Chloe Wakeford, Katie Hanson, John Mountford, Martin Baker, David Howie, Ann Buchanan and Gregor McSkimming. If you would like to get involved or have any questions, just ask one of us and please take a look on the official Award website: www.theaward.org as it is a very comprehensive guide to completing the Awards.
