Loretto appoints Michael Powell, one of the UK's top professional cricketers, to develop cricket into a centre of excellence

Loretto has appointed Michael Powell, former Captain of Warwickshire Country Cricket Club and an England A player, to develop and manage its buoyant cricket department. Michael has had a distinguished, 15 year cricket career as a professional with Warwickshire CCC. In 2001 he was appointed Captain of Warwickshire and led them to victory in the Benson and Hedges Cup. Michael played for England A in 2003. Michael has recently been appointed as the High Performance Batting Coach for Cricket Scotland where he is coaching the Scottish Teams.
Cricket is one of our main sports at Loretto, pupils love it, and we play all-year round by using indoor nets in the sports hall during the winter. Cricket is played at School from the age of 8 with our top players making up an elite cricket squad who train throughout the year.
