Loretto v St Leonard's

The Golf Academy got off to a good start yesterday with a decisive win over St Leonard's. The weather was very kind with a warm sunny day with only mild winds, perfect weather for good scoring.

The first pairing of Tom Scott and Phillip Buckendorf got off to a fast start with Tom shooting 3 under par for the front nine to help forge a significant lead.

The third match was a much tighter affair with Lewis Gregory and Nick Binder 1 down playing the 16^th hole. After driving into the thick rough Lewis played a good recovery back to the fairway 60 yards short of the green. His third shot required ultimate distance control with the pin at the front guarded by the bunker. He played a lovely three quarter wedge shot which landed four feet in front of the flag and disappeared into the hole on its second bounce. The birdie three brought the match back to all square which it was to remain.
