Religious and Moral Education

About the Department

Loretto ChapelOur aim is to help pupils to develop their personal spiritual integrity within an increasingly crowded and competitive religious marketplace.

At present, RME is taught by class teachers as far as Nipper year 5. As children progress up the school, the approach to RME becomes more issue-based.

Teaching and learning

RME at the Nippers follows the Scottish 5-14 curriculum. Pupils are made aware from an early stage of the multicultural nature of British society, and the RME syllabus reflects this.

In the younger years at the Nippers, a more story-based approach is taken to RME, although always with a view to life application and personal development.
