Nursery
Children can join the Nursery (36 places) from the age of 3 where a full pre-school programme is followed. This is based on the Scottish 3-5 curriculum. As well as class-based activities, specialist teaching is provided at Nursery level in French, Drama and Music. There are morning, afternoon and full day sessions.
Our nurseries have their own dedicated teachers. Both Emma Shaw and Elaine Burgess are highly experienced nursery practioners ably assisted by our Nursery Nurses Jenny Robertson and Nina Dinwoodie. Teachers' Assistants Janice O' Raw and Kirsten Scott complete the team.

Loretto nursery is in partnership with East Lothian Council and is therefore able to offer funded places to all pre-school children. The nursery is child centred and the main emphasis is on learning through play.
All our Nursery teachers have participated in the Scottish Executive's Early Learning Forward Thinking training and the Nursery makes innovative use of ICT within the curriculum. This includes the use of digital photography and programmable toys.
The nursery is regularly inspected by the C.A.R.E Commission (our regulatory body) who can be contacted at Eskmills in Musselburgh.
Please be aware that demand for nursery places is high.
