Pastoral

The emotiBoarding pupils enjoying indoor activitiesonal security of each individual child is paramount in everything we do.

The Nippers prides itself on high levels of pastoral care for both day and boarding pupils. The aim is to create a caring and safe environment with a distinct family atmosphere.

In our small school, all the staff, including the support staff, get to know the children well. If any child has a problem or concern he or she is encouraged to speak to any member of staff.

This strong framework of pastoral care allows the boys and girls to develop as individuals under the guidance of an experienced and dedicated staff. Even the youngest pupils are encouraged to take responsibility for others.

There are certain people with particular pastoral responsibilities within the school. All girls and boys have a class teacher and they are generally the first point of contact for pupils and parents. Class teachers see their group each morning at registration and teach the vast majority of the core curriculum to their pupils.

The Headmaster and Deputy Head liaise closely with all of the staff and know all of the children very well.

Andy Keulemans, our own school chaplain is also available to speak to the children, either in a group or in private.
