Junior School Boarding
A home from home
At the end of the highly structured day all of our children leave the school and for our boarders we endeavour to give them a calm and relaxed feeling of being 'at home'away from the school environment.

The Junior School offers accommodation for full, and weekly and occasional boarders. Boys and girls enjoy the benefit of a secure and homely atmosphere. The staff's high level of commitment to boarding provides a very happy and busy environment. The vast majority of day children aged 8 or over have at some stage taken advantage of flexi-boarding and, as they progress through the school, some transfer to weekly or even full boarding.
As well as providing full boarding we have a dedicated weekly boarding package in the Junior School (only). Weekly boarders can choose to leave on a Friday after school or stay for Saturday mornings to take part in the range of sporting and recreational activities finishing at lunchtime. They can return either on Sunday evening or Monday morning.
Our flexi-boarding option for ad hoc requests is very popular and provides an ideal stepping stone for more regular boarding as children move up the school. See our fees section for full details.

The School has converted one of its buildings, known as Newfield, to provide dedicated and high quality co-educational accommodation. The new boarding house opened its doors to new boarders in September 2004.
The ground floor provides spacious recreational areas and upstairs the boys and girls have dormitories in separate wings of the house with the houseparents and the matron located in the middle. The house backs on to the school playing fields so there are lots of opportunities for the children to enjoy outdoor activities in the evenings and at week ends.
Both the girls and the boys are encouraged to make their dormitories feel like home from home, and the rooms are creatively decorated with their own pictures and posters. Matron takes great care in ensuring that their laundry is done and she also takes responsibility for their medical needs.
In addition to the Houseparents David and Karla Pearce and Matron (Marysia Tomczyszyn) large number of other staff, including the Headmaster, have boarding duties in the evenings and weekends. The boarders enjoy a full range of recreational activities at these times and on most Sundays there is an outing.
Newfield is regularly inspected by the C.A.R.E Commission (our regulatory body) who can be contacted at Eskmills in Musselburgh.
