There are two boys' houses (Hope and Seton), and two girls' houses (Balcarres and Holm). Each House is staffed by a resident Housemaster or Housemistress, a resident Assistant Housemaster or Housemistress, and a resident Matron. The Housemaster or Housemistress takes overall responsibility for the pastoral, academic, and physical welfare of the Houses' pupils.
Our sixth-form students often have single-study bedrooms in their own accommodation block and are allowed a greater degree of freedom to encourage a sense of responsibility and to prepare them for adult life.
Many younger pupils share well-decorated bedrooms in small groups (2 to 4 pupils)
Much of the responsibility for the day-to-day running of the House and its discipline is devolved to the Sixth Form, especially the Prefects, and the heads of dormitory rooms, under the supervision of and monitoring by the resident staff and tutors.
