On Monday Loretto hosted the annual U13 six a side tournament. 6 schools participated in a round-robin tournament with the teams placed 1st and 2nd after the round robin contesting the final. Loretto played very well throughout the day and learned lessons along the way. They chased and good total of 56 to win the first game against Stewart's Melville and then comfortably beat Longridge Towers and Durham Choristers. Cargilfield were emerging as the team to beat and they posted a tough target of 59 which, despite heroic efforts from Simon Whait and Finlay Paterson, Loretto fell 2 runs short. However, victory over Edinburgh Academy confirmed Loretto's place in the final against Cargilfield. Cargilfield batted strongly and posted a target of 66 from their 5 overs. Finlay Paterson and James Dickinson started the run chase steadily. Jamie Bouwer replaced Finlay when he perished on 17 and immediately struck some lusty blows. With 2 overs to go Loretto needed 31 runs to win. James Dickinson despatched the next 3 balls for 6 and by the end of the over they only needed 9. Jamie caressed the 1st ball for 4. A single left James to hit the winning boundary to seal a magnificent victory with 3 balls to spare. This was a tremendous effort by the whole squad of Simon Whait, Jamie Bouwer, Noel Anderson, Toby Gobourn, Finlay Paterson James Dickinson and Brodie Good.

Athlectics

Olivia Mackenzie and Edward Dudgeon both represented Loretto at the Scottish Schools Athletics Championships at Grangemouth on Saturday. Although neither managed to gain a medal both athletes performed very well in their events. Edward ran the 1500m and Olivia competed in the 400m.

Hockey

Following Cameron Good's representation in the East District U15 hockey team he has been selected for the Scotland U16 training squad, which is an excellent achievement.
