Success in the London Mini Marathon for 2nd Form Loretto pupil
13 April 2008
Second Form Loretto pupil, Olivia Mackenzie, came 34th out of 200 competitors from counties all across Britain in the London Mini Marathon.
"On the 13th of April I ran in the London Mini Marathon. I was really excited about running for Scotland. The only bit I was worried about was the fact I had to run three miles as a race! Except for that, I was very excited to run over the same finishing line as Paula Radcliffe and so many other famous runners. The crowds were amazing the whole way round supporting 200 runners in my age group. I started to get a stitch on the first mile. It went away by the second. When I was running I could see Big Ben, London Bridge, the Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace.
I ran the three miles in 20:09. My family watched me run the race, which was a great support".
