Tyler Fry, World Drumming Champion, Masterclass at Loretto
Still in his 20's, Tyler Fry has been three times winner of the World Bass Section Championships and former North American Solo Tenor Drumming Champion, Tyler is internationally recognised as one of the true masters of pipe band percussion.
On Tuesday 12th May, the four female tenor drummers gathered in the sun outside Pinkie for their first tenor workshop. We had the enthusiastic Tyler Fry for an afternoon workshop, (only hours after he flew in from Canada). It was a great inspiration for us all as he was able to teach us many flourishing techniques which were new to us and coax us out of bad habits! He made us fell very at ease despite our many attempts during the practice. We were able to leave the session with greater confidence, style and ability, which will be extremely useful for the coming season of fixtures.
