LORETTO School Headmaster, Peter Hogan, has congratulated his pupils for getting to their first choice universities following A Level successes.

Mr Hogan said, “Loretto is delighted with the A Level results of all its 2012 leavers. We have seen a significant increase in the number of A* grades awarded.

“63% of this year’s grades were A* - B grades, far outstripping the national average.”

“The results reflect their hard work and improvement, and the excellence and constant support of their teachers.”

"We are pleased so many are going to their first choice university where they will study demanding subjects alongside the brightest pupils from across the country.

"Individually there are some wonderful performances. Adam Lalak achieved A*, A*, A and realised his goal of reading Philosophy at Cambridge, whilst Harry Gobourn, Richard Yarrow and Charlie Buchanan-Smith are all off to St Andrew’s University after achieving all A* or A grades. Henry Chang achieved a remarkable 1A*,3As,and a B and will now go on to read Engineering at Imperial College and Kate Bezant attained A*,A* and A and will be reading Medicine at Glasgow University.”

“Our leavers have upheld the great traditions of the school with their commitment and personal high standards shown in their work, music, sport and respect for others.”

"We are confident they will be great ambassadors for the school in the years to come” said Peter Hogan, the Headmaster.

"As a Lorettonian, you strive to become the best you can be, whatever your chosen profession or plan for the future; in School and out. You are not disheartened by failure; you adapt and succeed; working on your own or as a team. You listen to others, get on with new people and always take advice. You make the most of the wide range of opportunities that you have been given. You are confident and hard working, neither arrogant nor dishonest. You work to gain strength equal to your tasks; never content with the false sense of satisfaction gained from achieving less than your potential. Adapting, achieving; showing courage, honesty and strength. Performing in a team and as an individual. Working the try before giving the vital off-load. That's what I feel it means to be a Lorettonian".
