The HMC Regional Finals were played on Tuesday 26th June at Hexham GC against Kings School Chester.

Kings had a successful rout to the final beating Kings Macclesfield, Manchester Grammar and Repton so we knew they were going to be tough appoints. After a good practice round on the Monday the team were fully prepared for this vital match to qualify us to the National Finals.

Carl Kolloss hit the first tee shot setting the tone with a fantastic drive down the par 5 opening hole. The first pairing of Carl and Sami Bouzabia had a very tough match and found themselves two down with four to play. They showed their class birdieing the 15th & 16th to bring the match back to all square before halving the 17th in four, sending the match down the 18th all square. Sami's tee shot found the trees on the left however whilst looking for the ball it fell out of the tree allowing Carl to hit a fantastic flop shot over the trees to 10 feet and Sami holed the putt for birdie and the match.

Ben Skinner and Lesley Atkins combined to play some excellent golf dominating their match from the outset to win 8&7. The final pairing of Nathan Kho and Moritz Bock making his debut for the team got off to a shaky start before finding their rhythm  mid way through the front nine. They made the turn in 3up and after winning 10 &11 they were 5up with 7 to play. After a fightback from the opposition they kept there calm to win the 15th hole and take the match 4&3.

The team performed very well and will progress to the National Finals on the 2nd & 3rd of July at Burnham and Berrow in high spirits.
